About GHFS
Good Heart For Support is a charity organisation that was founded in 2016 by Were Shuraim in the community of Bupala, Bugiri District in Uganda. This organisation was founded by looking in our community how orphans struggled to get what to eat (starving) because they lacked good samaritans and volunteers to help them with education and basic need, the young girls ended up getting married at early age.
Looking at this situation, where orphans, underprivileged children and windows needed an upper helping hand so that they could once again draw their favourite colours (Bright colours). They provision of residence, (Shelter home for orphans so that they reduce on streets), medical assistance, food and clothes, recreation and spiritual facilities to the underprivileged children because they were neglected and undermined in the society.
In order to receive all the basic needs, creation of a supportive organisation was necessary. “When you have good heart, kindness bcomes your responsibility you take up.
Our Mission
“Giving hope to orphans, needy, vulnerable and disabled children.”
We are in position to achieve this by providing them with education, medical care and spiritual development.
Objectives
- To create awareness among children and communities in matters concerning children’s health issues like personal hygiene and safe water maintenance
- To provide disabled persons with the requisite therapy training, care and love so that they can overcome the social limitations placed on them because of their disabilities and achieve their goals and dreams.
- To bring up the girl child to be the mothers of tomorrow through guiding and encouraging them to attend to women education. Education is globally acknowledged as the most powerful means of empowering girls and women and protect them from violation of human rights and cycles of gender based violence.
- To prevent and mitigate the impacts of HIV/AIDS in Uganda. The affected persons with HIV/AIDS need counselling and guidance.
- To provide the widowed men and women with love, mental, physical, emotional and spiritual nourishment and the power to step into the outside world and accomplish their goals and dreams.
Legal Status
Good Heart For Support (GHFS) is a fully registered as a community based organisation in Uganda by Bugiri District Local Government’s Office of the Community Development Officer for Buwunga sub county, with Reg. No: BGR/BUW/CBO REG 020/29. GHFS is Non-Governmental, nonprofit making organization, envisioned to change tears into smiles among vulnerable groups such as orphans, the hungry, girl child, elderly and other unprivileged people in the community.
